Liturgical Reflection…

The Second Vatican Council stated emphatically that choirs must be diligently promoted while ensuring that the whole body of the faithful may be able to contribute that active participation which is rightly theirs. The choir must not minimize the musical participation of the faithful. Choirs comprise persons drawn from the community who possess the requisite musical skills and a commitment to the established schedule of rehearsals and liturgies. Thus, they are able to enrich the celebration by adding musical elements beyond the capabilities of the congregation alone. Choirs enrich congregational singing by adding harmonies and descants. At times, the choir performs its ministry by singing alone, such as a prelude before Mass, the Preparation of the Gifts, after the reception of Communion, and the recessional.

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 has been selected as the date of our next Diocesan Pilgrimage to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC. Since this will be Bishop Joseph’s final pilgrimage as head of our Diocesan Church, it would be a great tribute to him and to his dedication to Mary, our Mother, if we could fill the Basilica to overflowing. If interested please call the Rectory for more information.
St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Route 53, Frugality, PA (near Prince Gallitzin State Park and Glendale Lake) will be holding their annual Festival, Sunday, July 19th, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Please come, we would like to meet you!

I'm glad to have found this site. I would like to invite you to move your parish blog to our Catholic Social Network at CatholicDestination.com. We are asking as many Catholic parishes, lay apostolates, and individuals as we can to please join us. The more blogs we have freely hosted in our community, the greater our combined outreach to Catholics and non-catholics on the internet.

If you have questions, please ask me. I'll even help you move and show you how easy it is to use our software (easier than blogger).
