Anyone with balances due, please send your payments to the Rectory or to the Diocese so that we can close out the appeal for this year. Anyone who has not sent in a pledge, it is not too late to do that. Remember everything going in now will be returned to our Parish.

Basket Bingo will be held at St. Agnes Parish Center on Sunday, September 27th. Cost is $20. in advance or $25 at the door. Doors open at 12:00, Bingo starts at 1:00. There will be 15 rounds of Bingo with extra special games. Lunch will be served at 12:00 PM. Tickets will be sold in the vestibule after each Mass beginning this week or can be purchased at the Rectory – 748-4594. More information to come.

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 has been selected as the date of our next Diocesan Pilgrimage to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC. Since this will be Bishop Joseph’s final pilgrimage as head of our Diocesan Church, it would be a great tribute to him and to his dedication to Mary, our Mother, if we could fill the Basilica to overflowing. If interested, please call the Rectory for more information.

Stewardship as a Way of Life

If it does not please you to serve the Lord, decide today whom you will serve…As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” - Joshua 24:15
When we commit to serve the Lord, we must be willing to become a partner in the work of the Lord. A partner is a person who invests time, talent and treasure. If we say we serve God, we must actually do something!

Do your thoughts, words, and deeds demonstrate that you are “convinced that [Jesus is] the Holy One of God” (John 6:69)? Can you embrace Joshua’s choice as your own: “As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord” (Jos 24:15)?

Liturgical Reflection…

Among all the instruments which are suitable for divine worship, the organ is accorded pride of place because of its capacity to sustain the singing of a large gathered assembly. Due to both its size and its ability to give resonance to the fullness of human sentiments, from joy to sadness, from praise to lamentation, the organ is held in esteem. Also, the sound of the pipe organ is most suited for solo playing of sacred music in the Liturgy at appropriate moments. Pipe organs, too, plan an important evangelical role in the Church’s outreach to the wider community in sacred concerts, music series, and other musical and cultural programs. Many other instruments also enrich the celebration of the Liturgy, such as wind, stringed, or percussion instruments.
