Bulletin - Aug. 2, 2009 (Click Here to Download)

FROM FR. JOZEF

THANK YOU to all the people who have been here all week helping to set up the grounds for the Fair, getting the booths ready and preparing all the wonderful food. Thank you to the youth of our parish and their friends who showed up to give us a much needed hand. We appreciate the time all of you spent preparing for our annual event.

ANY ORGANIZATIONS USING THE PARISH CENTER FOR MEETINGS ARE ASKED TO SEND IN A SCHEDULE. In order to put the information in the weekly bulletin, we need to have your schedule. Please send to the Rectory no later than August 31st.

Bishop Joseph and the Family Life Office cordially invite all couples celebrating their 1st, 25th, 40th, 50th, 55th, and 60+ Wedding Anniversary in 2009 (and their families) to attend the Annual Wedding Anniversary Day Liturgy. Couples may attend either Sunday, September 13 at the St. John Gualbert Cathedral in Johnstown or Sunday, September 27 at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Altoona. Locations are both handicap accessible. Both liturgies begin at 2:00 p.m. Bishop Joseph will be the celebrant and homilist at each celebration. Punch and cookies will be available after the mass for anniversary couples and their families. Reservations must be made through your parish for either celebration by Monday, August 17th.

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 has been selected as the date of our next Diocesan Pilgrimage to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC. Since this will be Bishop Joseph’s final pilgrimage as head of our Diocesan Church, it would be a great tribute to him and to his dedication to Mary, our Mother, if we could fill the Basilica to overflowing. If interested please call the Rectory for more information.

The next Concert of Prayer will be held on Wednesday, August 12th at 7:00 PM at the Castanea United Methodist Church, E. Brown St., Castanea, PA.
