A Lifetime of Service, A Moment of Thanks
The annual collection to help subsidize medical insurance and retirement expenses of active and senior Diocesan priests will take place next weekend. While all parishes subsidize these expenses, the increases are outpacing the current level of support. If you would like to make a gift as an expression of gratitude for all priests who serve our Church, please place the special envelope in next weekend’s offertory. Thank you for your generosity and concern [for me and my brother priests]!

Liturgical Reflection…
Music and song add reverence and dignity to the celebration of the Sacrament of Marriage. Since the celebration of Marriage is a communal celebration, participation aids should be provided to the congregation so that they might follow the ritual with understanding. This, in turn, allows them to have full and active participation in the wedding celebration. Such liturgical aids should also include proper copyright notices for permission to use copyrighted music in the program.
Stewardship as a Way of Life
“If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all.” - Mark 9:35
Throughout the Gospels, Jesus teaches us through His words and through His life that we are called to serve one another. We can serve through our sacrifices of time, talent and treasure. Sacrifice is not a word that many people like to hear. We think it means that we must give up something that we want. However, the literal meaning of sacrifice is “to make holy,” from the words “sacer” = sacred and “facere” = to make. In other words, we make our lives holy by giving up some of our time, talent and treasure in the service of God and His Church.
